Chief Joseph, 16oz, 4.5”H x 3.5”W diameter. White Stoneware clay wheel thrown, glazed with Sepia glaze outside. Original photo was decal transferred and fired to embed image into glaze.  Kiln fired to vitrify the clay and glaze.  Dishwasher and Microwave safe. 


1840 – 1904, leader of the Wal-lam-wat-kain (Wallowa) band of Nez Perce, a Native American tribe of the interior Pacific Northwest region of the United States. Chief Joseph led his band of Nez Perce tribe during the most tumultuous period in their history. Forcibly removed by the United States federal government from their ancestral lands in the Wallowa Valley of northeastern Oregon onto the Idaho Territory. After a series of violent events the Nez Perce evacuated and joined the Lakota people, under the leadership of Sitting Bull in Canada.
