Unique Raku sphere that was saggar fired measuring 3.75"H x 8.5"W/Diameter. This pot was wheel thrown and the surface was covered with terra sigillata then burnished for a smooth exterior. After bisque firing the pot was drenched with Ferric Chloride then nestled within a heavy wrapping of aluminum foil which was filled with combustible materials, such as sawdust, pine needles and dried organic materials, sugar and metals. In addition, copper wire, salt brined twine and fern leaves were tied to the pot. These materials ignite during the firing, leaving layers of dramatic markings, with colors of red, black and white markings to flashes of golds, greens and red tones. The satin finish patina will not yellow or fade over time.
Truly a beautiful object of art. This would make a great gift for that special someone.
