Artist Statement
I studied art while in college, and after retiring from a long business career, I rekindled my youthful passion for creating art. Pottery is my expression of that passion. Taking clay and molding it in a form, then decorating it by varying techniques, provides a unique art piece that gives me a pleasure. My company name and logo, "Pots by A'bear" is a play on the pronunciation of my 'Cajun' name, "Hebert".

Raku Firing
My pottery is about style and function. It is inspired by the places I have visited and the people I have met. The gallery tabs are Stoneware, Raku and Sculpture. The pieces are made in a variety of shapes and forms, wheel thrown or hand built using different clay bodies and are decorated with various glazes and techniques. Then they are kiln fired in a range between 1450°F-2381°F, by one of three kiln methods: oxidization/electric, reduction/gas, and raku/gas.
I hope you enjoy these pieces!
Thanks for viewing, Dan.
